Not in any specific order, just randomly getting whatever I could find and installing it.
Then I went to the MS website, and started trawling for and installing security updates for msxml 4.0. I was reasoning that since MSXML 4.0 SP2 is installed on my system, and since FSX said it couldn't find it after all this trouble, it must mean FSX is looking for a specific version I haven't tried yet. (I mean really, atleast MS should've checked that the ver on the DVD actually works)Īs some people have stated in my googling, when you run repair using the msxml installer it just seems to go through instantly without doing anything. Then I tried un-installing msxml4 once again and re-installing from the installer on Disc2. I tried downloading MSXML 4.0 SP2 from the MS website, and running repair. Tried un-installing Flight Simulator, and MSXML 4.0 SP2, then as per the MS website, did a 'clean' boot and re-installed.
I spent some hours trying to get this to work. It is notable however that I don't run automated updates. A lot of commenters on the web suggested that people not upgrading to SP2 is the problem. Game was Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe. So much so that I've decided to register here and post my experience hoping it helps someone else out someday, since nothing I could find on the web helped much.įirst off, the OS was Windows XP SP2. I had this problem and had a LOT of issues trying to sort it out.
